Sometimes a J-O-B can be a tremendous weight that makes it difficult to move into freedom and destiny. A job is safe although it pays us just enough to get by and just enough not to quit. There is a psychological affect that a job has on us mentally that connects us to a false sense of security. Many of us are committed to or job because we have been taught to since childhood that a good life is based on getting a good job. So we search for a job with good benefits, stability and start making preparations to start working toward the 40-40- 40 plan 40 hours a week, 40 years to retire on 40 percent of our income. Unfortunately most employees are given so many duties and responsibilities they work 50-70 hours a week and never retire because many companies are restructuring downsizing and outsourcing to cut cost and increase profits. Psychologically we tell yourself this is a good life. We convince yourself we are safe and secure but deep inside we know we could be fired or laid off at anytime. What keeps us here year after I think it has become comfortable, accepted as the best we can do and we are addicted to the title we hold, the name of the company and the payroll check keeps us there until the fix runs out. The only move most people will make is to get a better job with a bigger check and a fancier title. About 11 years ago I listen to a very successful entrepreneur refer to a job as a J-O-B which stood for just over broke. I had never heard a job explained this way but it is true. For every employee there is a ceiling of limitation whether it be money, personal time or individuality. So are you putting your dream on hold another year because you have so much invested in a Job. So are you working under the fear of being fired? A job imprisons the entrepreneur that is inside all of us. This can be attributed to the fact our personal mission, vision, values and style changes and we outgrow the company culture. When this happens we assimilate to the environment rather affecting the environment with our creativity. Therefore as an employee you say, do and think what the company wants you to think. In contrast as an entrepreneur the real you can not be expressed and experienced. I have heard some people say well they can fire me because I was looking when I came here and I can start looking again. Why in the world would anyone look for another Job? Maybe because it pays a little more or has better benefits. In every society there are serfs and lords, owners and consumers, Freemen and slaves Where ever you are admit it, accept it or change it if you are not in the position you desire to be. Entrepreneurs believe before they see and believe in what they do. Their instinct is to do the undone, to build the unbuilded and to create solutions. Entrepreneurs can connect with life in manner that allows them to grow personally and financially. If you are anticipating being fired, Quit! What do you have to loose. For an entrepreneur a job is a job. You may experience lean times but you can reinvent yourself get on the road to self improvement and truly making your mark as leader and visionary. The employer has told you what their expectations of you were for years. It is time for you tell the world of your expectation for yourself. You have a responsibility to protect and promote your values and your vision. As employees sometimes we forget we have options and choices. As a result we lack commitment to our individual pursuits. On the job we convince ourselves we can build a net worth. Ironically, America is the greatest, richest country in the world however we achieve less wealth than our counterparts in other industrialized countries. What is more tragic is our net worth suffers but our personal worth suffers even more. I think this can be attributed to the fact that we are trying to achieve our dreams as employees. Many are trying live lifestyles their salaries can not support. We have made the J-O-B our source while accepting the limitations as the barometer of what we can achieve. The truth of the matter is our creator is our source. He has placed inside of us dreams, ideas and creativity that becomes vision when we began to take action. Provision follows vision. If we don’t pursue our personal vision we will live our life working to make someone else’s vision a reality. Think about Getting fired may be the best thing that ever happened to you but quitting may be even better. This article was not meant to bash jobs or employees. The purpose of the article is to bring attention to the mental positioning we need to make to truly fulfill our dreams and to avoid being made a victim. Don’t quit your job prematurely prepare and be ready to leave before you are fired and not prepared or ready to leave. Harold is a passionate and skilled multipreneur.
