Twelve years ago it was pretty common to hear people make statements about how risky starting a small business is but those same people don’t have a job anymore due to the economy in 2009. These are all educated people as well who have been at their jobs for several years. Many have had to downsize cars and even homes due to the layoff. What I would like to do is give you two reasons to consider starting your own business verses working for someone else. Let’s begin. 1) Less risk than a job - So what is more risky? Having a job that brings in one paycheck or owning a business that allows you as many paychecks as you like from paying customers? As I mentioned above, I have met more than my share of qualified people who are now out of work because they just had that one source of income. I think that is way more risky than owning a business where if you put in the time and effort, could pay you several times per week instead of once a month or twice a month. 2) You can set your own hours - The cool thing about being human is we are all made different. Some of us work better at night and some of us work better in the morning. Some of us like structure and some of us like more freedom. Regardless, owning your own business can help you use those strengths because you can work whenever you would like to work. In closing, I hope I have given you some information to ponder over in regards to making the leap to a business owner. Good luck with whatever you choose.
