I’m sure a million blogs, articles and stories currently bouncing around cyber space have started in this way but this is the beginning, so this is where I’ll start: In August last year, right at the beginning of the recession I lost my job in the travel industry. This was a huge blow to me as it has been to so many people all over the country and the world. I wouldn’t say I loved my job, but I didn’t hate it either so the thought of going to something worse really played heavily on my mind. I’d often wanted to leave that job and I always wished I could do more with my life but something held me back. In the months following this event I found out what that was: fear of failure. I still get pangs of this whenever I try something new that might not work but I’ve learned to accept this and do it anyway. It all started when I met a friend for lunch shortly after losing my job and she gave me 2 books that have changed my view of life forever. The first is one that everybody is talking about: ‘The Secret’. The second book was called ‘4 hour work week’ by Timothy Ferris. Without going into too much detail The Secret explains the law of attraction and how you can manifest great change in your life by focusing on it, wishing for it, imagining it and generally believing it CAN happen. ‘The 4 hour work week’ is a great book by an inspiring individual: Tim Ferris. Tim believes that just because we’ve all been programmed to live our lives in the traditional ’school-college-job-kids- retirement-death’ way doesn’t mean we MUST do this. Tim has opted to learn ways to make money AND live life to the full all from his laptop giving him the ultimate freedom. Not only that but his book also gives you a multitude of ways to fill the void that taking away full time work creates. OK, so it sounds easy when you say it like that and is actually pretty complicated when you read the book but it’s an inspiring tale. Despite the fact I don’t believe I could replicate Tim’s lifestyle (he’s hyperactive!) the book gave me enough information and ideas to embark on my own life changing journey. So . . . I decided to start experimenting with money-making ideas on the internet. I tried Clickbank and affiliate Amazon marketing (if you don’t know what these things are you’re not missing much). I was just picking products, running ads on Facebook and learning about what might work and what definitely wont. After a while I made my first proper working website. It was all done using webeden on templates so it was easy and required no html or technical knowledge. The site is perfectdj. I encourage DJs and producers (DJing & dance music is my passion) to send me mixes and I feature the best. I also used the site to build a mailing list and sell music related items to my subscribers. The knock on effects of this have been amazing as I now get to indulge my passion everyday. I love having contact with the DJs, I love sharing the music I love and I get a great sense of pride every time somebody compliments my site and idea. This alone was life-changing but what happen next literally knocked me for six. One of the items featured on my DJ website is an ebook called ‘Everything you need to know about Djing & Success’ by world famous DJ legend Danny Rampling. I emailed him with a short message letting him know that I was an affiliate seller. I was shocked when he emailed me back with questions and an offer to help me create more business. This literally blew me away. I spoke to his business partner who makes a full-time living from affiliate selling on the internet. He played a big part in the creation of the DJ success eBook and he gave me great advice. One of the things he told me about internet business is to have multiple streams of income flowing your way. If you create a niche website that works then look for another niche where you can replicate that success. So obvious that I hadn’t thought of it, now my brain is buzzing with ideas constantly and every newspaper or TV show seems to spark some small idea - some good, some utterly useless but at least I’m thinking and now I have the belief to put these plans into action. The best was yet to come . . . When I finally met the DJ, Danny Rampling, to talk about the eBook (but really to meet a musical hero of mine) he impressed upon me even more the importance of being prolific in order to create wealth. When I asked what had inspired the eBook and this outlook he told me about something called Success University. The basic concept is that you earn while you learn from the world’s top personal development trainers and writers on success and personal achievement. You earn an income by promoting Success University, your own success training business. The income from your promotions not only covers the costs of your success training and tuition fees but also creates a residual income. Students of Success University become affiliates who earn weekly and monthly income while they learn success techniques by becoming successful at marketing their own online success training business. Training in business techniques, internet marketing, motivation and much more is provided by many of the the world leaders in their fields who are themselves members of Success University. Since the program is all set up with everything you need all you must bring is positivity, hard work and a strong desire to succeed. With this you can tap into the Success University commission system whilst you promote a quality product with high integrity. The idea is to share information with your network and help the members above and below you to become better at furthering the business. By doing this we can all work as a team to spread the word about this amazing life changing opportunity. You cannot begin to imagine how continued contact with successful people like Danny and his business partners using this mindset can influence you and help you fulfill your own potential. My initial skepticism didn’t leave me straight away. Being British I felt that the very American style website might hinder me in promoting the product. I also wondered whether I would actually be able to take the ’self-help’ style advice seriously. Since you get a 30 day money back guarantee I went for it - having read ‘The Secret’ I felt I couldn’t pass it up whether I believed in the law of attraction or not! Once I enrolled got my own personal website with a built in ‘back office’ which gave me a wealth of information and material to help get started. A member of the Success University customer services also called to explain exactly how everything works and run me through the ‘back office’ of the website. I also found details of people in my Success University network who have already achieved a high level of results. You are encouraged to call and introduce yourself to these people to ask any questions you may have about the program. I felt uneasy and almost a bit embarrassed to call them out of the blue, but since I felt I was on a roll I did it anyway. I just told myself that these people will have had the same doubts I was feeling pangs of now. What happened next was fantastic and they were all full of great advice and encouragement. The full scope of these conversations is beyond this article but if anyone is interested I may write about this at a later date. One of the overriding sentiments that came through in these conversations was how many people will try to tell you that this wont work and that you should just give up. Don’t listen to them and don’t give up this or any of your dreams was my favorite piece of advice. Something that really struck me about the way these people spoke was the passion they have for the product and the effect it can have on your life if you’re open to it. Feeling energized and full of dreams for a better, brighter future with no limitations I threw myself into it. I ordered the Success University business cards, I listened to the advice on my website and I embraced this as a business to secure me financially against future problems like I encountered just 8 months ago when the recession started. Since joining I’m completely converted. I love the advice, the support and the feeling that I’m in control. I also feel I have made a massive difference in the lives of others who were affected by the economic downturn in the way that I was. It sounds like a massive cliche but I really am excited for the future, rather than fearing it like I once was. I’m even working part time on another music related passion project with a contact from my network in Success University. If anything I’ve said has struck a chord with you please contact me. I’m happy to talk on the phone or even meet in person with anyone who is open minded, wishes to share ideas, become successful and live a full and enriched life. Wishing you success and happiness in everything you do! Jimmy Wightman
