As an entrepreneur, it’s an impossible task to separate your business life from your personal life. Where does one end and one begin? They co-exist so beautifully, why even try? One naturally feeds and fuels the other. This powerful dynamic lends itself to experiencing the best of both worlds. They collide, become integrated and assimilated; the result is your life. So, what’s The Crossover Effect? It is the effortless flow of information from one part of your life to the other (personal to professional and vice versa). It is allowing this approach to enrich your life and make it more full as a result. Let me give you an example I’m sure you have lived. You’re on a family holiday and enjoying the benefits of being in a new environment, taking in the scenery, eating at new restaurants and spending quality time with those you love. During an evening walk through a historic park, BAM, it hits you… the next BIG income generator for your business. When was the last time you had a vacation without somehow gaining insight, an epiphany or a new perspective that was the obvious next step for your business? In my life it happens all the time. I actually use my vacation time to passively work on my business. I don’t formulate any plans or set anything in motion. I simply write down what comes to me knowing the rest will follow when I return to my office. Here’s another example: You’re sitting at your desk working diligently on a project for your most recent client and all-of-a-sudden the information comes to you about how to explain a spiritual concept to your 5-year-old, or the best approach to completely eliminate your son’s stress and anxiety when you drop him off for playtime with his friends. There is actually no separation between our personal and professional lives except that which we manufacture. But, because societally this is a common perception (that there is indeed separation or the need for separation), it’s appropriate to acknowledge it without going off on a tangent (it will be the content for another article!). So, you have two choices: 1. Decide to experience a fully-integrated life where there is no distinction between the two facets 2. Decide to consciously keep them separate (for reasons of your own), but allow each to flow into the other to benefit you Either way, you must decide something. So, how do you maximize all the benefits that are sure to find you by implementing The Crossover Effect… either slowly or as a windfall? 1. Be open. 2. Expect information to come to you in various forms at all hours of the day and night. 3. Express gratitude when it happens, e.g. “Thank you, God (Universe, Mother Nature, etc.).” This ensures an even more open channel to receiving information in the future. 4. Take immediate action. This sends out a powerful message that you are willing to do your part in collaboration with divine guidance. In talking with many entrepreneurs, it is quite common to be unsure of how this works. If you feel this way, be comforted… you are not alone! Based on experience, you cannot figure it out by trying to intellectualize it. It can only be mastered by feeling your way through it and having the courage to embark on the path of doing things differently. There is no guidebook. Try anything and everything. Surely this will bring you closer to a fully integrated life than doing nothing at all. Remember: We are creating things as we go because there is so much change occurring in the world. What works this week may not even be applicable next. That’s why it’s vital to become comfortable with change, create new systems and methods, and be flexible as we go about managing the business of every facet of our lives. The Crossover Effect makes us feel and become more whole. The more grounded and more integrated we are, the greater our positive impact on our families, friends and the world.
