For those of you not so tech savvy HTML is about to get an upgrade-HTML5. It has been over a decade since the current version programmers are using has gotten an update. Many people are talking about the new features, an how it could change the way everyone programs their website. One of the biggest talked about topics is the video tag. This could replace Flash for good-allowing anyone to implement video into their site without knowing how to write a Flash file. It could also make loading times for your site faster, allowing video to supplement your content without losing potential visitors because of slow loading time. The actual code is its “last call phase” and still has a lot of work ahead of it. Most browsers are going to have to play catch up before it goes into full effect. IE 9 is boasting HTML5 capabilities along with a long list of other “upgrades”. For those of you who have web designer work, and want to brush up on HTML5 look to mobile browsers first. Because of the new tags, it is a great fit for mobile browsers because of the quick loading times. Mobile seems to be getting extremely important for web designers and programmers-especially with the popularity in smartphones. Being aware is half the battle, so if you are not familiar with HTML5, don’t worry you have plenty of time to catch up.
